This is the step where you examine what all is going on in your life.  As the name implies, it is a part of the process where you discover where you are and where you want to be.  Here are some of the things you will examine as you accomplish this discovery:

  • Skills - You will take The Devine Inventory which measures your skills in 33 specific behaviors.  These 33 behaviors are prioritized based on their importance to success as an independent financial services professional.  For more information about this instrument, visit our partner's website:

  • Personality Preferences - You will take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® that will give you valuable information about your preferences on four continuums:  Extraversion vs. Introversion; Sensing vs. Intuitive; Thinking vs. Feeling, and Judging vs. Perceiving.  This data will provide you with insights on how you interact with other people.

  • Wheel of Life - Your life isn't all about your business.  How you are doing in other aspects of your life affect your business life and your business life affects all the other areas of your life.  Sometimes the cause and effect relationship isn't obvious.  To determine where you are in other parts of your life you'll asses your satisfaction with your Physical Environment, Career, Money, Health, Friends & Family, Significant Other/Romance, Personal Growth, and Fun & Recreation.

  • Personalized Health - You will complete a series of questionnaires and other assessments to get information about what you might be able to do to improve your life through changes in nutrition, supplementation and lifestyle

  • Vision/Goals - You will take a look at where you want your business to be.  What you want it to look like in the distant future.

  • Current Reality - You will spend some time reflecting on where you are as opposed to where you want to be and consider some of the reasons that the two states may not match.

After you develop this extensive data set about you and your business, you will decide which areas are the most critical ones.  These will be the areas you focus on in your Business Plan for Life.  After you make these decisions you will be ready to move on to the next step, Design.
